Write and Read

Have you ever considered keeping a record of your caregiving journey? I believe journaling has great benefits and journaling about your caregiving experiences can give you lots of benefits as well. If you are not big on writing, you can choose to write weekly instead of daily.

It’s not a cute or pretty thing to admit but journaling has given me the opportunity to say on paper what I did not want to say aloud. I can write down how I’m feeling on any given day, I can vent my frustrations and write myself some words of wisdom. Journaling gives me peace in moments of storms and gives me something to do with my hands when I have feelings of anxiety.

I keep my journal private and occasionally I will go back and read passages that I wrote. Re-reading my passages puts my current day in perspective and lets me know life goes on and there will be good and bad days. I love writing the inspirational quotes that friends have blessed me with and writing about loves ones who have since passed away.

Our journeys are unique, and I think its good to look back and see how far we have come. Whether you are a current caregiver or past caregiver you can begin your journaling venture today and by this time next year you will have tons of memories to read about and smile. As always Take Care.
